AVE BUCHWALD
Ave Buchwald has been a lawyer since 1976 and has practiced law with Blumberg Law Corporation since 1979. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at U.C.L.A. and a Juris Doctorate from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. His post-law school training has included a Certificate in California Probate Procedure, obtained from the University of Southern California School of Law, and a Certificate in Basic Mediation, obtained from the Dispute Resolution Service of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Buchwald's professional activities include service as a judge pro tem for the South Bay Municipal Court and Long Beach Municipal Court, arbitrator for the Long Beach Superior Court, and fee dispute arbitrator for the Long Beach Bar Association. He is a member of the Long Beach Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Ball-Hunt Inn of Court. He is admitted to practice before all of the state courts of California, the United States Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Central and Eastern Districts of the United States District Court in California. Some of the published appellate opinions in his cases include Citizens Association for Sensible Development of Bishop v. County of Inyo (1986) 172 Cal.App.3d 151, 217 Cal.Rptr. 893; Lodestar Company v. County of Mono (1986, E.D. Cal.) 639 F. Supp. 1439; Schmitt v. Superior Court (1989) 216 Cal.App.3d 453, 264 Cal.Rptr.2d 806; DCH Health Services Corp. v. Waite (2002) 95 Cal.App.4th 829, 115 Cal.Rptr.2d 847; Zapanta v. Universal Care, Inc. (2003) 107 Cal.App.4th 1167, 132 Cal.Rptr.2d 842; and Islas v. D&G Mfg. Co., Inc. (2004) 120 Cal.App.4th 571, 15 Cal.Rptr.3d 559. He has co-authored four articles (with John Blumberg) on appellate procedure that appeared in the Long Beach Reporter: "Non Appealable Orders," "The Timely Notice of Appeal," "Minimizing Appellate Expense," and "The Substantial Evidence Rule."
